What is the Art-Net To DMX Converter?

Our Node 8 is an advanced network routing device designed specifically for professional lighting control systems, enabling seamless conversion of Art-Net signals to DMX512. It supports transmission of up to 4,096 data channels over a single CAT5 cable, making it suitable for events of all sizes—from small gatherings to large-scale stage productions.

Featuring a built-in network switch, the Node 8 acts as an Ethernet repeater while providing 8 independent DMX512 channels with configurable input/output (I/O) modes. As a high-performance signal amplifier, it ensures stable and reliable signal transmission in complex, large-scale lighting setups.

All configurations can be easily accessed and adjusted through the intuitive graphical display and front-panel buttons. Additionally, the Node 8 offers web browser-based setup, allowing lighting technicians and event production teams to remotely access and configure the device via a network-connected computer or laptop, delivering maximum operational flexibility.

● Overcoming Channel Limitations

A standard DMX link provides only 512 channels per universe. If you have 1,000 3D pixel spheres—with each sphere occupying 3 channels—you would require a total of 3,000 channels, spanning approximately 6 universes. Traditional DMX controllers struggle to scale effectively, whereas a multi-port Art-Net converter can easily handle tens of thousands of channels.

● Long-Distance, Lossless Transmission

DMX signals begin to attenuate when transmitted over cables exceeding 100 meters. Art-Net, however, is based on Ethernet technology; it can transmit data over distances of several kilometers using standard network cables or fiber optics, while also offering exceptional resistance to signal interference.

● Simplified Cabling

There is no need to run dozens of individual DMX cables from the control room all the way to the stage. Instead, you simply run a single network cable to a converter located on the stage, and the converter then distributes multiple short DMX cables to connect directly to the lighting fixtures.
